Being a Pilgrim: A Jubilee Journey to Doumelong

In preparation for the celebration of the Jubilee Year marking 40 years of the presence of the Sisters of St. Ann in Cameroon, the Sisters of the St. Ann Nefa Community in Bafoussam embarked on a spiritual pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine in Doumelong. They were accompanied by the lay teachers of Charles and Juliet Bilingual Nursery and Primary School, forming a beautiful communion of consecrated and lay collaborators united in faith.

Upon arrival at the shrine, the pilgrims entered into a profound moment of prayer and reflection. The day’s program was rich and spiritually nourishing: the praying of the Holy Rosary, the Way of the Cross, a moment of teaching, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the celebration of the Holy Mass.

The pilgrimage was guided by a Capuchin priest, Fr. François, who led the participants with dedication and insight. In his talk centered on the theme “Being a Pilgrim”, inspired by the Gospel of Matthew 9:9–13, he invited all present to reflect on their personal journey of faith, responding generously to God’s call just as Matthew did.

The day concluded in a joyful and fraternal atmosphere with a shared meal, strengthening the bonds of unity and fellowship among participants.

This pilgrimage was truly an edifying and grace-filled experience, offering each participant an opportunity for spiritual renewal and a deeper appreciation of their journey with Christ, as they continue to prepare their hearts for the Jubilee celebration.
