Starting school can be a daunting experience for young kids. Prayer offers reassurance and comfort, helping children feel connected to a higher power and grounded in spiritual values. It introduces them to the idea that their journey is supported by divine strength and love.
Spiritual activities foster a nurturing spiritual community by teaching young children to express gratitude, empathy, and connection through simple, interactive sessions. These activities, which include songs, short prayers, and heartfelt requests, help children feel secure and loved, promoting emotional well-being and a positive attitude toward learning and kindness
On this note, the 24th of March was set aside by the administration of Saint Anne Bilingual nursery school messamendongo to insert the kids in the lentern parochial activities of the St Peter the apostle`s parish messamendongo, precisely, the leading of the daily Stations of the cross.
On their arrival in the morning , the kids were instructed on how to go about the activities of the day, the attitudes to portray when praying the stations of the cross.
The prayers were led by the nursery 2 and grande section kids out of the school campus , precisely in the parish premises while the little ones of nursery 1, and pre- nursery were guided by the tecahers in the school campus.
The Prayers were kept short, involving physical actions like hand gestures, genuflecting and kneeling and singing.
The Focus was on ;
- Conversion ; reflecting on the little attitudes that needed to change in their lives and the good values they wanted Jesus to help them acquire.
- Gratitude: the kids were guided to thank God for friends, family, food, and the world around them rather than just asking for things.
- Interaction with Nature: the walk out of the campus into the parish premises encouraged the kids to use their five senses to observe and appreciate creation.
- Prayer Requests: the kids united with Jesus in his sufferings were invited to share their own, often sweet and simple, requests. So as to be one with him.
- The parents responded to the call of the school administration and showed up in their numbers to accompany and pray with and for their kids as well as their teachers.
The stations of the cross ended with the divine mercy prayer. The parents did not only pray but were in awe of the wonders the lord accomplishes in the lives of these kids through their teachers . They were so happy to watch the little kids read out and recite the prayers prayerfully, fluently and audibly.
The day ended well as the kids departed for the various destinations accompanied by their parents.
